Phlebotomy
A phlebotomy Technician works directly with patients. They are professionals who draw blood from patients or blood donors for medical testing. They report results to doctors, nurses, and other professionals. They draw blood from patients, explain venipuncture to the patient, check blood glucose levels and perform patient evaluations. They prepare blood cultures, urine specimens, capillary punctures, blood smear testing, and other venipuncture techniques. A phlebotomist student updates patient records, cleans and sterilizes equipment. Learning how to take patient's pulse, respiration and blood pressure levels will also be instructed.
